Emerging Creativity Takes Center Stage at One of Fashion’s Most Influential Global Platforms
The international fashion scene is once again turning its attention to Bilbao as BIAAF (Bilbao International Art & Fashion) unveils the 30 finalists of its landmark 10th edition. Recognized as one of the most respected platforms dedicated to emerging fashion talent, BIAAF continues to bridge the worlds of education, creativity and industry, offering a prestigious stage for the next generation of designers shaping the future of fashion.
Bringing together finalists from some of the world’s most renowned institutions including Parsons School of Design, Parsons Paris, Institut Français de la Mode, London College of Fashion, Polimoda, Accademia Costume & Moda, École des Arts Décoratifs – PSL and SASK MODE Belgium the competition highlights the diversity and excellence of contemporary design education on a global scale.

Among this year’s selected talents is Swiss designer Thomas Clement, whose thoughtful and experimental approach has earned international recognition.
A Contemporary Swiss Vision
For BIAAF 2026, Thomas Clement presents a three-look collection that explores the intersection of reconstruction, ready-made aesthetics and textile experimentation. His work balances intricate panelled silhouettes with minimalist structures, creating a sophisticated dialogue between complexity and restraint.
Inspired by everyday observations, urban culture and an intuitive creative process, Clement’s collection transforms ordinary experiences into compelling fashion narratives. The result is a body of work that feels simultaneously playful and conceptual, reflecting a new generation of designers unafraid to challenge conventional boundaries.
Sustainability also plays a central role in the project. The collection incorporates locally sourced textile surplus, organic linen and repurposed materials, demonstrating a conscious and responsible approach to contemporary design while maintaining a strong aesthetic identity.
Fashion as Cultural Research
Beyond aesthetics, this year’s finalists represent a broader movement within fashion one that views design as a tool for cultural dialogue, innovation and social reflection. Their projects engage with questions of material development, identity, sustainability and evolving production systems, reinforcing fashion’s role as both a creative and intellectual discipline.
Over the past decade, BIAAF has established itself as a unique international observatory of contemporary design, identifying emerging talents whose work combines technical excellence, critical thinking and visionary creativity.
The Future of Fashion Starts Here
As the fashion industry increasingly seeks innovation rooted in purpose and authenticity, platforms such as BIAAF play a vital role in nurturing the voices that will define tomorrow’s creative landscape.
For Switzerland, the selection of Thomas Clement among this elite group of international finalists highlights the country’s growing contribution to contemporary fashion design and its ability to cultivate talents with a truly global perspective.
