Buccellati Unveils the Caviar Bar at Palazzo Gavazzi: A New Expression of Milanese Luxury

Designed by Chahan Minassian, Buccellati’s new Caviar Bar transforms the Maison’s historic Milanese flagship into an intimate world of craftsmanship, hospitality and contemporary Italian elegance.

In the heart of Milan’s Via Montenapoleone, where the city’s heritage and luxury culture meet, Buccellati is opening a new chapter.

The renowned Italian high-jewelry and silverware Maison has unveiled its new Caviar Bar at Palazzo Gavazzi, an intimate destination conceived by Paris-based designer Chahan Minassian. Located within Buccellati’s historic flagship at Via Montenapoleone 23, the space overlooks the palace courtyard and extends the transformation of the Maison’s Milanese home that began with Minassian’s redesign of the Piano Nobile in 2024.

More than a hospitality space, the Caviar Bar translates Buccellati’s distinctive approach to craftsmanship into an immersive interior experience one shaped by material, light, architecture and the art of entertaining.

From the Caviar Collection to an Immersive Interior

The inspiration begins with one of Buccellati’s most emblematic expressions of Art de la Table: the Caviar collection.

Recognizable for its signature micro-beaded motif and exceptional silversmithing craftsmanship, the collection provides the conceptual language for the new space. Here, its visual identity moves beyond the table and becomes part of the architecture itself.

Reserved for Buccellati clients and guests, the Caviar Bar occupies a dramatic double-height volume overlooking the courtyard of Palazzo Gavazzi. Visitors enter through a gallery reminiscent of the ceremonial sequences of nineteenth-century Milanese palazzi before arriving in an environment designed equally for conversation, conviviality and private hospitality.

A glazed mezzanine overlooks the main salon, creating an elegant dialogue between the two levels while accentuating the architecture’s impressive verticality. Lounge seating, bistro tables and a central bar complete an arrangement designed to balance intimacy with sociability.

A World of Mirrors, Velvet and Light

The defining architectural gesture is found in the vaulted surfaces, entirely covered with bespoke mirrored panels in nuanced shades of copper, silver and smoky grey.

Reflective yet unexpectedly warm, the surfaces capture and refract light, creating changing perspectives throughout the interior and giving the space a subtle theatrical quality. Silvery greys and taupe tones are complemented by bronze accents and golden reflections, extending the material palette introduced in the Piano Nobile while subtly recalling Buccellati’s world of high jewellery and silverware.

Texture plays an equally important role.

Velvets, Fortuny fabrics, richly finished leathers and custom rugs bring warmth and tactility to the interiors, giving the Caviar Bar a refined yet unmistakably residential atmosphere.

As with the Piano Nobile, every furnishing element has been custom designed by Minassian. Vintage discoveries, including Murano glass chandeliers, are placed alongside sculptural forms and bespoke furniture, creating a considered conversation between the historic architecture of Palazzo Gavazzi and a contemporary design vocabulary.

The Art of Living, Reimagined

For Chahan Minassian, maintaining the residential character of the environment was central to the project.

“Maintaining a residential spirit was essential,” says the designer. “The objective was to create an interior that felt welcoming and lived-in while preserving the architectural grandeur of Palazzo Gavazzi.”

The result is an environment in which mirrors bring light, movement and depth, while textiles, materials and Murano glass introduce a sense of warmth and intimacy.

This balance between grandeur and comfort is perhaps what makes the Caviar Bar particularly emblematic of the Buccellati universe. The Maison’s heritage is not presented as something static, but experienced through architecture, craftsmanship and the rituals of contemporary living.

Where Craftsmanship Meets Hospitality

Following the transformation of the Piano Nobile, the Caviar Bar represents another step in the evolution of Palazzo Gavazzi as a destination for hospitality,

Within its elegant rooms, Buccellati’s Art de la Table universe becomes something to be inhabited rather than simply observed. The Caviar collection joins the Maison’s celebrated silverware creations, including collections developed with Ginori, the colourful Murano Collection, the whimsical Furry Animals and a selection of decorative objects designed to enrich the art of the table.

Together, these pieces contribute to an atmosphere reminiscent of an elegant Milanese residence—an environment where Italian craftsmanship, design, culture and hospitality naturally converge.

For a Maison whose identity is rooted in the traditions of the Italian bottega, the Caviar Bar offers a contemporary interpretation of that heritage. Rare stones, white and yellow gold, intricate hand-engraving and forms inspired by historical archive drawings have long defined Buccellati’s distinctive language.

Now, at Palazzo Gavazzi, that language extends beyond jewellery and silverware.

It becomes architecture. It becomes atmosphere. And, ultimately, it becomes an invitation to experience the Buccellati world in an entirely new way.
