BYD Group Makes a Landmark Statement at Goodwood with Eight Global and UK Premieres
Baar, Switzerland – July 8, 2026 – BYD Group, the world’s leading New Energy Vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, is set to make one of the strongest statements of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed with the unveiling of eight new vehicles spanning three distinct brands. Combining world premieres, European debuts and UK market launches, the company will occupy the largest exhibition space ever created in the history of the prestigious automotive event.
At the heart of BYD Group’s presence is DENZA, whose official UK market launch coincides with two world premieres and one European debut, reinforcing the brand’s ambitions in the premium automotive segment.
The festival also represents a pivotal milestone for BYD, with the introduction of one of its most significant products for British motorists. The all-new DOLPHIN G DM-i enters the compact sedan segment as the only plug-in hybrid model in its class, combining BYD’s advanced DM-i technology with outstanding practicality, efficiency and intelligent connectivity.
Meanwhile, YANGWANG will make one of the event’s most anticipated appearances, presenting the U9 Xtreme, officially recognised as the world’s fastest production vehicle, alongside the remarkable U8L luxury SUV capable of driving on water, and the flagship U7 luxury sedan.
Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, commented:
“This event represents far more than a vehicle showcase. It is a statement of intent. With eight premieres across three distinctive brands, BYD Group demonstrates that innovation, performance, premium design and sustainability can coexist within one of the world’s most comprehensive automotive portfolios.”
The Revolutionary DENZA Z Opens a New Chapter
Goodwood 2026 marks the global debut of both the DENZA Z Coupé and the DENZA Z Racing, two fully electric sports cars representing the latest evolution of DENZA’s “Pure Emotion” design language, first introduced with the DENZA Z Spider at the Beijing Auto Show earlier this year.
The Z Coupé shares the Spider’s advanced tri-motor powertrain, enabling a top speed of 349 km/h, while maintaining impressive everyday usability thanks to its practical 2+2 seating configuration and generous luggage capacity.
For drivers seeking ultimate performance, the Z Racing adopts an even more focused approach with an aggressive carbon-fibre aerodynamic package engineered for maximum efficiency.
Beyond its supercar ambitions, DENZA is also demonstrating the breadth of its premium portfolio. Making its European debut, the BAO 5 enters the premium SUV segment equipped with BYD’s innovative DM-o (Dual-Mode Off-Road) technology. Combining three electric motors with a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, the powertrain delivers the refinement, responsiveness and control of an electric vehicle both on and off the road while retaining the flexibility of combustion power.
DENZA’s premium ambitions extend even further. Goodwood also marks the brand’s official launch in the UK, where the Z9GT will become its first production model, closely followed by the D9 DM-i luxury MPV.
Designed as a sophisticated executive lounge on wheels, the D9 DM-i offers an exceptional passenger experience. Second-row captain seats feature massage functions and recline up to 152 degrees, while all seven seats include both heating and ventilation. Even with every seat occupied, luggage capacity remains at a minimum of 430 litres. Its DM-i plug-in hybrid system provides up to 209 km of WLTP electric driving range, complemented by a dual-motor powertrain producing 353 hp.
BYD Introduces Two Strategic Models for the UK Market
Following its world premiere in Berlin on June 10, the DOLPHIN G DM-i now makes its UK debut. As the only compact sedan equipped with plug-in hybrid technology, it delivers a combined driving range of approximately 1,040 km, benchmark efficiency within its segment and cargo capacity exceeding that of many larger hatchbacks.
BYD also brings maximum versatility to Goodwood with the European debut of the new SHARK pickup.
Powered by the DM-o Dual-Mode Off-Road plug-in hybrid system producing 435 hp, the SHARK accelerates from 0–100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, offers approximately 89 km of all-electric driving range and provides an impressive 2,500 kg towing capacity.
YANGWANG U9 Xtreme Arrives at Goodwood
BYD’s luxury performance brand YANGWANG also takes centre stage with the UK debut of the extraordinary U9 Xtreme.
Although the vehicle has already appeared twice in Europe first to set a 6:59.157 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record, becoming the fastest production electric vehicle ever recorded on the circuit, and later to achieve an officially verified 496.2 km/h top speed for a production car its appearance at Goodwood confirms the model’s availability for European customers.
The brand will also showcase the flagship U7, available in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid variants. Equipped with BYD’s advanced e⁴ four-motor system, rear-wheel steering and DiSus-Z intelligent active suspension, the U7 represents the latest evolution of luxury performance engineering.
More Than an Exhibition: The Largest BYD Experience Ever Created
Occupying an impressive 2,016-square-metre, three-level pavilion the largest stand ever constructed in the history of the Goodwood Festival of Speed BYD Group will deliver far more than a traditional vehicle display.
Visitors will experience an immersive technology journey featuring a dedicated Tech Zone, off-road demonstration area, robotic technologies, advanced driving simulators, an official merchandise boutique and an exclusive hospitality terrace overlooking the action.
With eight major premieres across BYD, DENZA and YANGWANG, Goodwood 2026 marks a defining moment for the Chinese automotive group as it continues expanding its premium and luxury ambitions across Europe while reinforcing its position as one of the industry’s most innovative New Energy Vehicle manufacturers.
