March 30, 2026 A study in material, mastery, and modern watchmaking
In the rarefied world of independent watchmaking, David Candaux continues to refine a singular vision: one where innovation is never ornamental, and complexity always serves purpose.
With the unveiling of the DC6 Night Forest, the Vallée de Joux master introduces a timepiece distilled to its essence two materials, one architecture, nothing superfluous.
A New Expression of Carbon
Following the success of its forged carbon predecessor, the DC6 evolves into a more advanced, more deliberate form: unidirectional (UD) carbon, paired with natural titanium.
Unlike forged carbon visually expressive yet structurally inconsistent UD carbon is engineered with continuous fibers running uninterrupted through the material. The result is a case that is:
Mechanically superior
Highly resistant to impact and delamination
Visually organic, revealing striated patterns reminiscent of wood grain
This is not decoration it is structure made visible.
At just 45 grams, the DC6 Night Forest becomes the lightest expression of the collection, designed for a life in constant motion.

Architecture: Precision Beneath the Surface
The case construction reflects Candaux’s engineering mindset:
A titanium inner chamber ensures water resistance
A UD carbon exterior provides strength and identity
A fully mechanical assembly no adhesives, only structural integrity
Key details:
Diameter: 45 mm
Water resistance: 50 meters
Case: UD carbon & Grade 5 titanium
Assembly: entirely mechanical
The Dial: An Illusion of Depth
The dial of the Night Forest is a masterclass in visual perception.
Crafted from anodized titanium, it reveals a topaz green tone inspired by alpine lakes vibrant yet elusive. A sunburst finish interacts with light, shifting constantly with the movement of the wrist.
The signature smoky gradient is, in fact, an illusion created manually through airbrushed layers rather than a physical transition.
Floating numerals in silver powder and a black-gold minute track complete a composition that appears alive, evolving with every glance.
Black Titanium: Transformation, Not Coating
In a departure from conventional finishes, the DC6 introduces black titanium achieved through micro-arc oxidation.
Rather than applying a coating, the material itself is transformed:
A ceramic layer forms within the titanium
The surface absorbs light instead of reflecting it
The result is permanent, resistant, and unalterable over time
This process defines the tourbillon cage an intense, enduring black rarely achieved without compromise.
The H74 Caliber: Mechanical Purity
At the heart of the DC6 lies the in-house H74 caliber, entirely developed at Le Solliat.
Highlights:
Flying tourbillon inclined at 30° (60-second rotation)
287 components
55-hour power reserve
Frequency: 21,600 vph
Titanium bridges and mainplate
Beryllium copper wheels
The inclined tourbillon is not aesthetic it enhances chronometric performance by optimizing positional variation on the wrist.

The “Magic Crown”
A defining signature of the maison, the Magic Crown reimagines interaction with the watch.
Positioned at 6 o’clock, it operates through a patented push system inspired by mechanical pens:
Three positions: winding, time-setting, neutral
Retractable design
Tested for decades of use
A discreet innovation that preserves the watch’s perfect visual balance.

A Dialogue of Materials
The DC6 Night Forest is not only seen it is felt.
Titanium: cool, precise, architectural
UD carbon: warm, textured, organic
This tactile duality echoes its conceptual one:
technology and nature, performance and poetry.
